This is the story of a man marked by a childhood image.

I was a little bit sad to hear that Chris Marker passed away yesterday. La Jetée, Marker's 1962 short film comprised almost entirely of still images, was one of the wonderful films that started my obsession with French cinema back in my first year of uni, and it still remains one of my favourite films today.
