The latest 508 hasn’t yet appeared in the Driver Power survey, but Peugeot in general has seen its position rise over recent years, and the mechanically similar 3008 (at least in non-hybrid form) should be a good indicator for the 508 – at last count, a reasonably low 11.8% of owners reported faults, while Peugeot itself finished in an impressive eighth place out of the 30 manufacturers listed – the highest of any French marque.

The 508 SW hasn’t been separately crash-tested in estate or hybrid form by Euro NCAP, but the Fastback received a full five-star rating with some very impressive individual scores, such as 96% for adult protection and 86% for child protection.
With the SW Hybrid range starting at Allure trim (over and above the Active available elsewhere) there’s a strong roster of safety kit, too, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assistance, speed-limit detection, road-edge detection, a distance alert to warn you if you’re driving too close to another car, plus blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights and road-sign recognition. GT Line adds LED headlights and GT throws adaptive cruise control with lane-positioning assistance into the mix.
